One fine morning in late October, I awoke to clouds and fog drifting past my camp site on Hatch Point, Utah. It looked as if the entire Canyon Rims area was swathed in mist. I grabbed a camera and headed for Anticline Overlook, in hopes of catching the mist before it burned away. I wasn’t disappointed. It was one of those rare times when you can’t take enough shots. I walked up and back across the overlook several times, in awe of the majesty laid out all around.

I saw only one of other soul that morning, and he was as enraptured as I. We were mostly speechless. I stayed until the sun burned the clouds away, and the desert returned to its usual sun baked routine, but haven’t forgotten this high desert reverie that autumn morning.
